By getting the ScreenCatch application you can share what you see on your desktop with others. At its core, ScreenCatch is a screen capture utility that will take a snap of whatever is displayed on your screen. But the developer came up with this tool to do away with the hassle of sharing screenshots via email. So you can take the screenshot, upload it to the web (to ScreenCatch’s servers), get a link to your screenshot, and share that link with others.

ScreenCatch works with 32 as well as 64-bit editions of Windows 7, Vista, and XP. The nice thing about the application is that you don’t have to install it. Just download a 193KB executable onto your PC and launch it to have ScreenCatch up and running. I must tell you that when you launch ScreenCatch, the application will automatically take a screenshot and present it to you.

Simple, that is the word to describe ScreenCatch’s interface. Your screenshot is displayed in the main pane; in the upper left hand corner there’s the File and Help menu, the Capture and Upload buttons, and the Select and Crop tools. It is such a simplistic design that you won’t have any problems getting accustomed to ScreenCatch.

There are four ways to take a screenshot with the ScreenCatch application. You can double click the ScreenCatch icon in the system tray, you can right click the icon and select Capture Screen, you can click Capture from the application’s interface (or main window), and you can use the F5 keyboard shortcut. Chances are that you don’t want to share everything that’s displayed on your screen. So just select the area that interests you and hit the Crop button from the left hand side.

Once you have your screenshot, you can proceed to share it with others. After you upload the screenshot to the web and get a link to said screenshot, you can share the link with others. Privacy oriented users need to know that the link is private.

ScreenCatch is free. You won’t have to part with your money to use the application.

With ScreenCatch you can take a screenshot and you can easily share it with others. You will get a private link to your screenshot so others can view it and a comments board so others can discuss your screenshot.

Pros

ScreenCatch does not have to be installed, which makes it portable. You can crop the screenshot. Double click the ScreenCatch icon in the system tray to take a screenshot. Upload the screenshot to the web, get a private link, share the link with others. ScreenCatch is free. Keyboard shortcuts are supported.

Cons

If the ScreenCatch site is down (which happened during our tests), you can’t upload the screenshot.
